Saying in original language: Auf etwas/jemand stehen.
English translation of the saying: To stand on something/someone.
Language: German
Meaning in English: Beside the literal meaning, this is often used in a figurative sense. Then, it means that someone really likes somthing/somebody else. I actually wonder, how this saying came to life. I mean: how can it be a sign of affection or sympathy to stand on it? This sounds more like the opposite to me (violence). But this is a very common German way to express this kind of feeling.
